Images: Completed Hillside apartments at Ocean’s Edge Resort, St Kitts
|
Ocean's Edge Resort, a joint venture project between Newfound and local
partners, is an exclusive development of apartments, cottages and individual villas
spread around the superb beachfront location of Frigate Bay in St Kitts. Covering
almost 40 acres, the resort enjoys a sense of seclusion and intimacy thanks to the
bay's curved beach and the dramatic hillside rising steeply from the shoreline to
the south. With fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean and located just yards from
the renowned Royal St. Kitts Golf Course, Ocean's Edge sets new standards for
design, construction and lifestyle on this beautiful, understated Caribbean island.

First Phase of 18-Hole Golf Course At Christophe Harbour To Be Completed By August
|
Work continues on the first phase of the US$25 million Tom Fazio-designed
18-hole championship golf course, which is part of the Christophe Harbor
Development on St. Kitts’ South East Peninsula.
“We continue to shape the earth at Priddies Plateau in anticipation of the installation of the golf course itself. This first phase
– which is the earth works phase – is now roughly 50 percent complete and should be finished by August this year,” said
Elebash.
He was quick to clarify that the earth is being prepared for the start of the construction of the golf course by August. “It does
not mean that the golf course would be ready by August.”
The Christophe Harbor 2,500-acre development will encompass a mega-yacht harbor and marina village, hotels, ocean front
homes, luxury villas, hotel residences, the golf course and shops surrounded by six pristine beaches.
The US$2 billion project is being undertaken by Kiawah Development Partners. Company Chairman American Charles
Pinckney (Buddy) Darby said late last year that the global economic conditions will not deter his company from moving
forward with the Christophe Harbor Development.
“We are not going to let economic conditions deter our enthusiasm for this project,” said Darby at the groundbreaking
ceremony for the 18-hole championship golf course late last year.
Darby, who has had primary responsibility for Kiawah’s development activities, overseeing all operations in the development
of Kiawah Island, a 10,000-acre sea island located 21 miles south of Charleston, South Carolina, expressed confidence that
with “golfing in our blood, this course at Christophe Harbor will be one of the finest, if not the finest in the Caribbean.”
To date the Beach House Restaurant and six bungalows have been completed and the first of several homes is under
construction.
Christophe Harbor Chief Operating Officer, Mr. LeGrand Elebash said
progress continues on each segment of the company’s US$2 billion
development on St. Kitts’ Southeast Peninsula with roughly 40 confirmed
home sales in the Sandy Bank area.
“This is extremely encouraging given the challenging economic environment
that we face today,” he said at a news conference.
Mr. Elebash said the company this year launched a multi-million dollar
international marketing campaign designed to reach buyers throughout the
United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe.
“We continue to invest heavily in marketing,” he told journalists, pointing out
that one of the benefits of the marketing campaign is the publicity that St. Kitts
and Nevis gets when Christophe Harbor.
The first of 90 homes for the Sandy Bank Bay area is under construction.
He said that by the end of this month, the company hopes to award a multi-
million dollar contract for installing the infrastructure at Sandy Bank Bay.
“The dirt roads have been cut and we will begin road construction, paving, the
construction of storm drains, management features and utilities,” said Mr.
Elebash.
He said local contractors will be engaged in the construction phases of the
project.
Christophe Harbor’s 2,500-acre development will encompass an 18-hole
championship golf course, mega-yacht harbour and marina village, hotels,
ocean front homes, luxury villas, hotel residences and shops surrounded by
six pristine beaches.
The developers and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis visualize the
creation of an incomparable seaside resort that will bring the twin-islands to
the forefront of destinations across the world, and revolutionise luxury travel in
the Caribbean.
